About Me:
  • I am co-author of the book "Your FBA is a Fantasy! A Guidebook to Creating Truly Trauma-Informed, Neuro-Affirming Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Support Plans" with my husband, Rick Bowman. We offer CPS-based "Facilitated IEP/FBA/BSP Support & Development".

    This involves advocating for families for a child's IEP or BSP to be based in skill-building using the CPS-APT as the primary tool for guiding the process, and also involves advocating against the use of punitive or contingency-based practices in these school-based services.

    Throughout a 20+ year career in special education, Doris has been a driving force in transforming how schools respond to students with chronic behavioral challenges. She's led top-tier district programs and restructured district systems for ED and OHI eligibility as well as FBAs and Behavior Plans.

    Doris, along with her husband, Rick – nationally recognized as "Team Bowman" – are sought-after speakers, trainers & consultants, known for delivery of hope-filled professional development grounded in real, actionable strategies to reach students for whom solutions are often hardest to find, and designed for immediate impact.
