About Me:
  • Divinna Schmitt grew up outside of Boston earning her Bachelor of Arts in Theater at Tufts University, and her Master’s Degree in Education from Lesley University. After teaching and traveling with a children's theater, she moved to Connecticut to work in radio as program director, announcer, and copywriter.

Collaborative Problem Solving® came into her life after ten years of trying to understand her second child’s baffling behavior during the ‘90s and early 2000s. Behavior modification was initially recommended by teachers and therapists. Motivated to see some improvement, she followed this approach to the letter, only to watch the meltdowns intensify.

In 2006, while in the waiting room of her then 14-year old’s therapist, Divinna said to a fellow parent, “I wish I had a script.” Without skipping a beat, the woman recommended Collaborative Problem Solving. This model proved to be life-changing for Divinna and her family. Soon she was certified and teaching the model to parents and caregivers across Connecticut. Sharing the wisdom of CPS brings her great joy.

Divinna is on the board of NAMI Shoreline.
