About Me:
  • I found Collaborative Problem Solving after struggling as a teacher to respond to behavioral issues in my classrooms. I was curious why so many students were having a hard time, so I went back to school to study child and family therapy. During my clinical internship, I was introduced to CPS. It spoke to the part of me that was deeply frustrated with being told to just use my power to will kids and adults to change. As I deepened my practice, I found CPS to be an effective approach centered on what was important to me: empathy, empowerment, growth, and change.

Since becoming a trainer in 2015, I've used the model in behavioral health programs and schools, leading efforts to implement CPS in therapeutic foster care programs and training service providers and parents in the model. I've learned a lot walking side-by-side with individuals and programs to support them in moving learning into effective practice. Now I continue to provide CPS training and coaching in foster care. I also work one-on-one with individuals and offer parent classes and Essential Foundation training. I love seeing the positive impact this model can have on people, organizations, and systems!
