About Me:

• Laurel Black, Ed.M., is Director of Educational Therapy & Executive Function Coaching at Research Institute for Learning and Development (ResearchILD) where she leads a team of coaches to empower students with learning, attention, and executive function challenges, coaches families, and consults with school and counseling teams. She is also a curriculum designer for the SMARTS EF curriculum and offers professional development to educators related to metacognition, motivation, executive function, and emotional regulation in the classroom. Laurel's training and experience include a Master's in Mind, Brain, and Education from Harvard, training as a coach of neurodivergent learners, experience as a special education department head, and district "Teacher of the Year" award-winner as a secondary special education and science teacher.
